Swift Caller

Building Prototype

Alpha

An automated bio-acoustic playback unit designed to attract Swifts to new nesting sites.

The Collaboration: Developed by "Draco" in partnership with the Sanquhar Men's Shed and conservation expert Andrew Turney, this project bridges the gap between community craftsmanship and modern technology.

The Tech: At its heart lies an ESP32-C3 microcontroller, running custom secure firmware to manage audio schedules and power efficiency. Powered by a solar-charged 18650 Li-Ion battery, the unit can operate autonomously for up to 18 hours a day.

The Design: We utilize a unique "Click and Connect" modular housing printed in durable weather-resistant PETG/ABS. This ensures the device is not only easy to assemble and transport but robust enough to withstand the elements, offering a true "install and forget" solution for the entire nesting season.
